SharePoint can support up to 10,000 users on a single server backed with a SQL Server. It can scale easily to support hundreds of thousands of users across tens of thousands of customers. It provides automatic backups at a site-specific level and allows control over disk usage as well as file extension filtering to prevent undesired files from being added to the site.
